"coffee??"
The topic of discussion-nervous system diseases , a dry class of- pathology, i sit by the window of lecture hall. its been cloudy since morning.. i feel the soft breeze kiss my face.. a pampering swish of wind blows through my hair, and the most awaited event follows : cleansing the parched land pour the romantic rains!! my hand reachs out for my cellphone reflexly n asks: "coffee?" n i get a similar reflex response: "sure :).. wud luv to!"
i had been oblivious to the magic that can happen over a cup of coffee. the first time i went out of hostel with friends for a cup of coffee .. i went numb looking at the striking variety of coffee that the place had to offer, all names seemed to be alien like , each promising to be different from the other!i didn't believe that at first , by all means a coffee is just milk with sugar n coffee powder..isn't it?. it took me just a few more visits to understand that even i had a favorite type for every mood of mine...a range from loving latte to kicking expresso!!.. they were no more doubts in my mind; calling it just 'coffee.' is not enough.
soon all the important things in life started falling in place n guess the catalyst.. COFFEE!! joy sorrow , hook-up break-up , passing failing, new friends old friends , gossip philosophy , ideology practicality, crushes n more crushes, farewells reunions, movies parties , n nostalgia.. all around the kuppa.
its now one of the most used popular and effective pick up lines : " coffee?".. n it works like magic .. almost without failing. it has the ability fix anything that matters to ones heart. a relationship in troubled waters or jus ghosts form the past..
n a country where drinking and sitting around bars is frowned upon in large sections of society, coffee has taken the social role that alcohol plays in western countries. Young people meet and talk not in dingy pubs, but in cozy vibrant coffee shops. These modern glass paned spaces smelling of coffee are like aquariums where one can glimpse modern young urban India.
A mixture of the western and the traditional, a babel of regional languages and English accents ranging from the 'toota-phoota' and the 'fake American' to the' Victorian british' Couples exchanging glances, lonely students with books, large cacophonous groups. Girls with bindis laughing with girls in burquas, they all come here .. they bond.
no bar of culture or regional taste, no bar of occupying the table only if you are still eating of your plate, no rattle of 'any more order?' from the attendants. u sit till you wish. to all need to have is a cup in front of you!! cafes are now the hubs for emotional brainstorming and reality solutions of the matters of heart.
\
just like LIFE: in which everyday is a different day because of variation in the proportions of the same emotions of joy n sorrow n energy n fatigue .. COFFEE too can give u an equally astonishing variety from just little variation in proportions of its simple ingredients. In life all falls in the right place with a simple first step.. Trust in Self!!
so the next time u wish to fix something that's not fitting right in the shape of your heart.. gather up yourself pick up the cell n spell the magic words : "coffee?".. give it the push of faith n magic works to pull off a small miracle in your life story. :) it works.
